Fan Verification FAQs

Fan Verification for 2017 is now open

If you did not Fan Verify in 2016, you're in luck! Fan Verification for the ability to purchase NYCC 2017 tickets or have tickets purchased for you or to purchase tickets for other people (you get the gist) is now open. It's only open until May 3 at 12:00 PM ET so fill out your Fan Verification profile now!

Fill out your Fan Verification Profile

Once your Fan Verification profile is complete, you will be eligible for the general on-sale. Sit tight – we'll email you 48 hours prior to the general on-sale with your unique link and the on-sale date and time. We'll announce when those emails go out on social media so keep an eye on your inbox and our social pages.

P.S. If you filled out a Fan Verification profile in 2016, you DO NOT need to fill out a new one. Yours will carry over from 2016.

P.P.S. On the flip side, if you're new and filling out a Fan Verification profile between April 19 and May 3, you are not eligible for the presale. Sorry, the presale is for NYCC 2016 Fan Verified folks only.

Fan Verification FAQs

What is Fan Verification?

Fan Verification is a mandatory process for any fan interested in attending New York Comic Con. It’s a profile you’ll fill out to help us identify if you’re a fan buying tickets for yourself and your crew or if you’re a scalper buying tickets in bulk to resell at outrageous prices. We’re working on eliminating the latter and this process helps with that. Any known scalpers and resellers as well as anyone who shows signs of supervillain activity (creating false emails, creating multiple profiles, etc.) will not be verified and will be unable to purchase NYCC tickets.

Is Fan Verification required?

Yes, it is required whether you plan to buy your ticket yourself or someone is buying a ticket for you. When Fan Verification opens, you will fill out a profile and the name and email you use in your profile is what will give you the opportunity to purchase NYCC 2017 tickets when they go on sale.

When does Fan Verification reopen for new NYCC fans and how long is it open for?

Fan Verification will open on April 19 at 9:00 AM ET and closes May 3 at 12:00 PM ET. In order to be eligible to buy NYCC tickets or have a ticket purchased for and assigned to you, you must fill out a Fan Verification application by May 3 at 12:00 PM ET once the application is live.

What if I have a Fan Verification profile from 2016? Do I need to fill it out all over again?

Nope! Your profile will carry over in 2017. As an extra thank you for going through the process last year when it was new, we’re giving fans with NYCC 2016 Fan Verification profiles first crack at tickets with a NYCC 2017 presale.

Who has access to the NYCC 2017 presale?

Only fans with NYCC 2016 Fan Verification profiles will be able to purchase tickets during the presale or have one purchased for and assigned to them. Keep an eye on your inbox for details – our fam at ShowClix will be sending you a note to either confirm that your 2016 details are correct or allow you to update them. This is important. If you don’t update or confirm your details, you could miss out on the presale. If you don’t receive that email by Friday, March 18, please email inquiry@nycomiccon.com with the email address you used last year to Fan Verify and our customer service superheroes can assist.

Who needs to fill out a Fan Verification profile for NYCC 2017 tickets?

All Fans (13 years of age at the time of NYCC and older) who hope to attend NYCC 2017 must fill out a Fan Verification profile. You will not be able to purchase a ticket or have one purchased for you if you have not created a Fan Verification profile.

You can only fill out one Fan Verification profile per email address and each fan can only have one profile.

If you do not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not have the opportunity to buy NYCC Tickets and you will not be able to have someone who has been Fan Verified to buy tickets for you.

Make sure to gather your friends, family, neighbors, dogs and cats (just kidding on those last two) and make sure everyone fills out a profile.

Do my kids need a Fan Verification profile?

The only Fans who do not need to be Fan Verified are kids who will be ages 6-12 at the time of NYCC 2017 and will be using an adult ticket or a Sunday Kids ticket. Kids Tickets will be available for purchase during the ticket on-sale time. Kids 5 and under will be admitted for free to NYCC and no Ticket is required.

What if my kid turns 13 this year and they want to be part of the presale?

Send us an email at inquiry@nycomiccon.com and we’ll help sort it out! Please send us proof of your kid’s age in the email you send.

I plan to apply for a Professional badge or Press badge, do I need to complete a Fan Verification profile?

We recommend it. Pro and Press applications will go live on March 20. If your Pro or Press application is approved for NYCC 2017, a Fan Verification profile is not required for your Press or Pro badge. However, if you are denied for a Pro or Press badge and wish to buy a ticket to attend NYCC as a fan or want to have a NYCC fan ticket assigned to you, you must have a Fan Verification profile. Having one just in case is your best bet.

Does filling out the Fan Verification profile mean I’m automatically Fan Verified?

For the most part, yes. Once you complete your Fan Verification profile, you’ll receive a confirmation email and you’re all set!

You’ll likely only hear from us if we have questions about your profile.

Does Fan Verification guarantee NYCC 2017 tickets?

No, it does not guarantee NYCC tickets or that you will get the NYCC Ticket type that you want, but it does give you the opportunity to purchase NYCC tickets when they go on sale to the general public. If you do not fill out your profile by May 3 at 12:00 PM ET, you cannot buy tickets or have them purchased for you. NYCC Single Day Tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

If I fill out a Fan Verification profile immediately, do I have a better chance at buying NYCC tickets?

No, when you Fan Verify does not increase your chances of purchasing NYCC 2017 tickets. Please fill out your Fan Verification profile completely and correctly (triple check the spelling in your email address before hitting submit!).

Should I create more than one Fan Verification profile?

No way. You can only fill out one Fan Verification profile per email address and each fan can only have one profile.

Anyone who is identified as having multiple Fan Verification profiles or as a known reseller will have their Fan Verification voided and will not have the opportunity to purchase NYCC tickets.

What if I want to buy a Ticket for my friend during the on-sale and they haven’t filled out a Fan Verification profile?

Sorry, but your friend’s outta luck. That’s why it’s so important to make sure all your friends and family who want to go to NYCC fill out their Fan Verification profile before the deadline!

I anticipate needing Medical Assistance onsite. Does my companion need a NYCC badge and a Fan Verification profile?

Yes, please make sure anyone assisting you onsite fills out a Fan Verification profile. They must have a NYCC badge in order to attend the event with you and they can only get one through Fan Verification.

If your companion is going to be provided by a company, please email us at inquiry@newyorkcomiccon.com so we can help you out!

What NYCC Ticket types are being sold this year?

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Sunday Kids tickets are available this year. NYCC is no longer sell 3-Day or 4-Day Tickets.

With the Javits Center construction beginning, we need to make sure we’re creating as many opportunities as we can for fans to buy a NYCC ticket. This doesn’t eliminate the basic law of supply and demand, but this will allow more tickets to be available per day. We hope this means many of you will be able to attend on the day you want.

Are all NYCC 2017 ticket types going on sale at the same time?

Yes, all NYCC tickets will go on sale at the same time.

How many NYCC tickets can I buy?

Each fan has the opportunity to purchase a maximum of four (4) tickets per type and sixteen (16) tickets in total. Remember: Each ticket must be tied to a person who filled out a Fan Verification profile and there is a limit of one ticket per person per day.

Will NYCC Tickets be sold at retailers?

No, NYCC 2017 tickets will only be sold online. NYCC tickets will not be on sale at retailers or any events leading up to NYCC 2017. Fan Verification and purchasing tickets online through the NYCC ticket website is the only opportunity to buy NYCC tickets.

Can I share my unique link with my friends who also want to buy tickets?

Do not share your link with your friends – even if they’re your besties. There is a one transaction limit per link. Once the transaction using that link is complete or you’ve purchased the maximum ticket allotment, the link will expire.

Assigning NYCC Tickets

How do I individually assign my friends and family to each ticket I buy?

You must include the email address used in Fan Verification to assign each individual ticket. Each person must be Fan Verified and there is a limit of one Ticket type per person per day. If your friend or family member did not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not be able to purchase their ticket.

When do I assign my tickets?

You will assign your tickets during checkout. Have your friends’ and family’s names and email addresses that they used when Fan Verifying handy! You’ll have a few more minutes added to check out, but having them on hand will help you check out quickly.

Since kids 6-12 don’t need to fill out a Fan Verification profile, how do I assign a kid to their ticket(s)?

As you are filling out your Fan Verification profile (or if you filled it out last year and checked this box), you will be asked if you would like the opportunity to buy tickets for kids 6-12. (Kids tickets for kids 6-12 are only available on Sunday. All other days of NYCC require a regular priced adult ticket for kids ages 6-12).

When you have the opportunity to purchase tickets at the on-sale time, it will be noted in your profile that you may be purchasing one or more of those tickets for a kid ages 6-12. You will then be able to assign a kid to that ticket by clicking Kids in the drop down under the email field.

Any NYCC tickets assigned to kids will only be valid for kids ages 6-12 at the time of NYCC. This will be noted in their NYCC badge RFID chip as the kid taps in and out of NYCC. If a NYCC badge assigned to a kid is used for anyone over the age of 12 at the time of NYCC, the wearer will be removed from NYCC without a refund and the wearer and buyer will be unable to purchase Tickets to any future NYCC or ReedPOP events. Be prepared to show proof of age onsite.

Kids ages 5 years old and younger do not need a Ticket and get into NYCC for free.

How long do I have to assign my friends and family to the tickets I buy for them?

You must assign your tickets during checkout so have their Fan Verification details handy (name and email address).
