First Round of New York Comic Con 2018 Guests Announced!

The first round of NYCC 2018 guests have been announced, including StarTalk Radio’s Neil deGrasse Tyson, Mythbusters’ Adam Savage, and the stars of Boy Meets World: Ben Savage, Danielle, Fishel, and Will Friedle. Fan favorites Mark Sheppard (Firefly, Supernatural, and Doctor Who,) and Jason David Frank (Power Rangers,) can also be found in the autographing and photo ops areas all weekend. Comics guests just announced include Jen Bartel, Fabio Moon, Gabriel Ba, Joelle Jones, and Tom King, among many more. There’s something for everyone in the first round of New York Comic Con guest announcements: on top of all the great entertainment and comics guests , anime fans can meet voice actor Josh Grelle (Yuri on Ice, Attack on Titan,) and book lovers can find Charlaine Harris (True Blood) at NYCC 2018. Josh is a life-long geek and actor with over 200 voice credits in his 10+ year career. His favorite roles include Attack on Titan (Armin), Yuri on Ice (Yuri Katsuki), Princess Jellyfish (Kuranosuke), The Devil is a Part-Timer (Sadao Maou), Drifters (Toyohisa), RWBY (Tyrian), Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple (Kenichi), and Snow White with the Red Hair (Zen). He has also lent his voice to many video game properties; Tales of Xillia 2 (Ludger), Dragonball Xenoverse (Demigra), and Freedom Planet 2 (Captain Kalaw) to name a few. When he isn’t behind the mic, Josh can usually be found writing scripts for the English adaptations of many FUNimation and BangZoom! Productions, such as Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, Overlord, and Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. He is represented by the Mary Collins Agency.

Jason David Frank, Known For Power Rangers, will be at New York Comic Con - NYCCJason David Frank

Jason David Frank is well-known for his role of Tommy Oliver in the long-running children's television show Power Rangers. His character has morphed into the most different power rangers in the show's twenty year history. He first morphed on the scene as the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger, a bad boy turned good, who after only ten episodes was intended to be written out of the show. However, due to his popularity, Jason David Frank's character was able to morph into the Mighty Morphin White Ranger, Red Zeo, Red Turbo and then returned in 2004 as the Black DinoThunder Ranger. Throughout Power Ranger history, Jason David Frank's character has appeared in 225 total episodes and counting, more episodes than any other ranger. He also starred in the series both full-length movies, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie" (1995) and "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie" (1997). In 2013, Jason David Frank reprised his role of the Green Ranger in the Power Ranger's 20th Anniversary season, which features a mega war that features many rangers from the show's history. With his dynamic screen presence and outstanding martial arts, he has catapulted Tommy to legendary fame in the Power Ranger fandom and to this day maintains a fan base that stretches around the world. His martial arts is not an act, Jason Frank, an inductee of the World Karate Union Hall of Fame, is a highly accomplished and respected martial artist with 37 years experience. In 1994, he created his own martial arts system, "Toso Kune Do," which means "Way of the Fighting Fist" and incorporates many different aspects of martial arts. Jason David Frank currently holds a seventh degree black belt in American Karate, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and in February 2013, he received the title of Master of Muay Thai by the world-renowned Muay Thai trainer Grand Master Toddy (Arjan). He is the owner and operator of Rising Sun Karate and MMA, with three schools in Texas and one in California. Actor and martial artists are not his only roles, Jason David Frank is also an entrepreneur, MMA fighter, and world record holder. He is the founder and CEO of Jesus Didn't Tap, the first Christian-based line of MMA Clothing and fight gear. It was one of the first apparel company to recognize and celebrate the faith and commitment of MMA fighters. Since its inception, Jesus Didn't Tap has broaden its name in the MMA world and has been the sponsor to many MMA fighters. In January 2013, Jason David Frank became the Guinness World Record Holder for most 1‐inch pine board broken during freefall. He, who was introduced to skydiving during Power Rangers, shattered the previous record with seven broken pine boards. With his recent achievements in 2013, Jason Frank has begun to document his momentous endeavors in a reality series, "My Morphing Life." The first season episodes include his world record achievement, receiving his prestigious Arjarn title in Muay Thai, his return to Power Rangers as the Legendary Power Ranger, his momentous convention touring, and more. The reality show’s first season has already been launched via the Bat in The Sun Youtube Channel and currently has more than two million views. Season two of My Morphing Life has been picked up by the new up and upcoming ConTV channel, a netflix of sorts for people who enjoy pop culture. The third season of My Morphing Life is currently being filmed and is already in negotiations to air in a major network.

Mark Sheppard, Known For Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, will be at New York Comic Con - NYCCMark Sheppard

Mark Sheppard was born in London, England and began his film career in Jim Sheridan’s “In The Name Of The Father” playing Guildford Four member ‘Paddy Armstrong’ alongside Daniel Day-Lewis. An accomplished musician, he has recorded and played drums for The T.V. Personalities, Nikki Sudden, Robyn Hitchcock, The Barracudas, Light A Big Fire, School Of Fish and They Eat Their Own, among others. On stage, he has won several theatre awards, including The 1992 Drama Critic’s Circle Outstanding Achievement Award for his performance in “A Cock & Bull Story”. He may be best known for his television work, as Romo Lampkin in “Battlestar Galactica”, Badger in Joss Whedon’s “Firefly”, Ivan Erwich in Day 5 of “24”, plus roles on “The X-Files”, “CSI”, “Star Trek: Voyager” and a host of other characters in film and television. Sheppard currently plays ‘Jim Sterling’ opposite Timothy Hutton on TNT’s “Leverage”, the Director of The Ring Organization in NBC’s “Chuck”, the Demon ‘Crowley’ in “Supernatural” for the CW, mysterious operative ‘Mr. Valda’ in SyFy’s “Warehouse 13”, and now Canton Everett Delaware III in the sixth season of the BBC’s “Dr,Who”. He has lent his voice to various video games and commercials as well, from “The Conduit” to “Dragon Age: Origins” and Bear Grylls’ “Man vs. Wild”.

Ben Savage, Known For Boy Meets World, Girl Meets World, will be at New York Comic Con - NYCCBen Savage

Ben Savage got his start in acting when he appeared in his first commercial at the age of 5. From there, his first major role was in the comedy series Dear John, opposite Judd Hirsch in 1988. The following year, he made his film debut in Little Monsters. He starred in several made-for-TV movies and miniseries until being cast in the lead role in the iconic series Boy Meets World in 1993. After the show wrapped, Ben enrolled in and graduated with honors from Stanford University with a degree in Political Science. He went on to guest star in many television programs, including Chuck, Without a Trace and Bones before reprising his role as Cory Matthews in 2014 on the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World, where he also served as the show's producer and director. Ben is currently focused on creating and developing television programs aimed at kids and teens.

Danielle Fishel is best known for her iconic role as Topanga on the television staple Boy Meets World. She reprised the role in 2014 for Girl Meets World, the show’s millennial reboot that ran for three seasons on the Disney Channel. Danielle has now moved behind the camera, having directed and written episodes of the show she once helped define and her memoir, “Normally This Would Be Cause For Concern,” was released in 2015. She is currently directing and developing numerous projects for television.

Will Friedle is best known for his comedic and voice roles, most notably as underachieving elder brother Eric Matthews on the classic TV sitcom Boy Meets World. He can currently be heard as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy animated series and Bumblebee in Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Will is also the host of the weekly series Painter’s Guild for the online network Geek & Sundry. It’s a return of sorts to his beginnings as a co-host for Nickelodeon’s Don’t Just Sit There in 1988. From 1993-2000, Will took Eric Matthews from high school through college on Boy Meets World; 15 years later he returned to the role of now Senator Matthews on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World for four episodes. As Boy Meets World drew to a close, Will segued into voice acting, taking up the mantle of Batman for a new generation in the now iconic role of Terry McGinnis/Batman in Batman Beyond. Roles as Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Nightwing in Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts and Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem; and Deadpool in Ultimate Spider-Man followed. To a generation of Disney fans, however, he’ll always be the beloved Ron Stoppable, sidekick to the brave Kim Possible. Will was also Lion-O in the rebooted ThunderCats animated series, Doyle in The Secret Saturdays; and Bumblebee in Transformers: Prime and Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising, as well as Transformers: Robots in Disguise.
