NYCC Medical Assistance Program

The entire ReedPOP team is committed to making sure that all of our fans have an amazing experience. Please take inventory of your needs as they pertain to attending the show. If you will benefit from any of the sections below, our Medical Assistance Program may be for you.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any signings, exclusives or seating for programming and special events. Please plan to arrive early and speak with NYCC Staff in each area to check availability.


Who should have a Medical Sticker?

ReedPOP shows provide Medical Stickers to individuals who may have mobility, physical, vision, hearing, cognitive, psychological, invisible or other types of disabilities. We offer a range of assisted services, if you have any questions after reading the below, please get in touch with us.

How do I get a Medical Sticker?

  1. Online preshow: Please fill out an application.
  2. Onsite: Please go to the Medical Assistance desk located with Will Call in the Crystal Palace of the Javits Center, and one of our Staff members will be happy to assist.

This sticker identifies you to Staff, Crew, and Security and indicates that you may need additional assistance.

Please note that the Medical Sticker does not provide admission, you must have a valid badge.

**Badges with Medical Assistance Stickers are for the use of one individual only throughout the course of New York Comic Con 2018. Badges with Medical Assistance Stickers cannot be redistributed, resold or reallocated. Failure to comply with this will result in revocation of badge without refund and the inability to attend future ReedPOP events.**

I have a mobility or physical disability, should I apply for a Medical sticker?

If you answer “no” to any of the statements below or have any of the diagnosed conditions you will most likely require the assistance a medical sticker provides:

  • Are you able to move without the aid of an assistive device?
  • Are you able to walk 200 feet without stopping to rest?

Do you have any of the following diagnosed conditions?

  1. Significant limitations in the lower extremities.
  2. Any disease or disorder that substantially impairs mobility due to a neurological, arthritic or orthopedic condition.
  3. Any cardiac condition to the extent that your functional limitations are classified as severe by the American Heart Association?
  4. Any ailments that drastically restrict movement which weren’t listed above.

Can a Medical Sticker be provided to a companion?

Fans that receive the Medical Sticker will also be provided with an additional sticker for one companion. Please note that the Medical Sticker does not provide admission, and your companion must have a badge. Medical Stickers do not grant early access to the show floor. We cannot guarantee access into panels, autographing and special events or the ability to skip lines.

I have a hard time standing for long periods of time. Do you provide assistance for queuing to enter the show?

We have a dedicated queue space and separate entry into the Crystal Palace at the Javits Center for those with Medical Stickers requiring special assistance or mobility requirements for arrival before show opening. Please note that this does not provide you early access into the show.

Will this sticker help me get seating in panels and screenings?

We provide priority seating for Medical Sticker fans as available, please be aware that all seating for panels and screenings are on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee seating for everyone.

A fan with a Medical Sticker should plan to arrive to a panel at least 15 minutes prior to the event.

Keep in mind that all of our events are very popular and we want to make sure that you get to see what panel is important to you, so plan accordingly.

What about Autographing and Photo Ops?

Our Medical sticker does provide for expedited line access in all signings that are not wristbanded or lottery giveaways. Please be advised that our guests often sign for limited amounts of time, so we ask you to arrive closer to the beginning of our signing time. When our guest reaches capacity, we will close the line.

Is the Convention Center fully-accessible? Is there Handicapped parking available onsite?

The Javits Center has sidewalk ramps, automatic doors at all street levels, restrooms and elevators accessible for persons with mobility impairments. Payphones are accessible and are equipped with volume and TTY capability for those with speech and hearing disabilities.

There is no on-site parking at the Javits Center. However, there are many parking garages in the vicinity. The average price for event day parking is usually starts at around $50 a day and is subject to change depending on the Center’s activity. Is there anywhere I can rent a wheelchair/walker/cane?

Motorized Mobility Vehicles are available for rent at the Javits Center. Please make an advance reservation for a motorized mobility vehicle rental by clicking here. Please call 212.216.2196 for more information.

A limited number of manually operated wheelchairs are available at no fee. Please call 212.216.2196 before you arrive for information on reserving a manually operated wheelchair.

I am deaf/hard of hearing, do you provide interpreter services?

If you would like to request an interpreter, please contact us with your personal information (Name, preferred e-mail, phone number) at We will be in touch with you to arrange your ideal schedule. We can accommodate requests up to three weeks before the event, please email us before September 15, 2018. Because of demand for interpreters, we cannot guarantee to accommodate your request after that time. Onsite requests for interpreters cannot be facilitated.

Is there anywhere I can store medications that need to be refrigerated?

We have cold storage available for medications on a first come first service basis located in the show office. However please be aware that space is limited. Speak with one of our Staff onsite or email prior to the show for more information.

Are service animals permitted inside the show?

Service animals are permitted throughout the event center; however this does not include emotional support animals, therapy animals, or companion animals. Only legitimate service animals will be allowed within the Comic Con footprint. Pets are not allowed and will be turned away.  Only legitimate service animals that are properly trained and under the proper care of their owners will be provided with the appropriate credentials. 

  • All service animals must remain by the handler’s side at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
  • Service animals must be housebroken and should use the service animal relief area.
  • Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal.
  • All animals should have legally required vaccinations

What accommodations do you have for those with anxiety or related problems?

If you need a break from the noise and people-people-everywhere, we have a Quiet Room and will be announcing the location closer to the show. Please be courteous to others when utilizing the space, this room will be monitored by Crew and Staff.
