Cashless Pay at New York Comic Con

CITINew York Comic Con is offering cashless pay, presented by CITI!

For the first time ever, New York Comic Con will be offering cashless pay, using RFID wristbands for purchasing merch (the future is here, amiright?). When you get to NYCC, pick up your RFID wristband onsite at the Cashless Pay Desk at Will Call, create your cashless pay account on your phone, or at any top-up station around NYCC, to add money to your RFID wristband, and tap to pay at participating Exhibitors. Once the fun's all over, you'll be automatically refunded any unspent money within two weeks.

Check back soon for a list of participating Exhibitors who will be accepting cashless pay. Please note that because this is the first time NYCC is offering this program, not all Exhibitors will accept cashless pay.

How cashless pay benefits you:

  • No more ATM lines
  • The 1% Top-Up Charge to add money to your RFID wristband is lower than most ATM and bank fees
  • No cash means no risk of losing cash at NYCC!
  • Smoother checkout at participating Exhibitors so you can enjoy more of NYCC!

Here's what you need to know about our cashless pay system:

When you arrive at NYCC, you'll stop by the Cashless Pay Desk at Will Call to pick up your RFID wristband. Your RFID wristband should remain on your wrist for the duration of NYCC. The RFID wristband is all you will need for the participating Exhibitors and the Official NYCC Show Store – no cash? No worries!

You will be able to load money onto your RFID wristband using a credit or debit card when you create your cashless pay account on your phone or at one of the self-serve top-up stations on-site (please note a 1% surcharge applies to all credit or debit card transactions – you'll see this referred to as a Top-Up Charge). You can add as much money or as little as you like to your RFID wristband, and will be able to add additional funds throughout NYCC if you run out.

There is a one-time RFID wristband activation fee of $3 and a 1% Top-Up Charge. After NYCC is over, the credit or debit card you used to add funds to your RFID wristband will be automatically refunded any unspent funds within fourteen (14) business days of NYCC 2019.

FAQs

Can I use cash at NYCC if I haven't uploaded anything to my RFID wristband?

Yes! You can still use cash at NYCC as not all of our Exhibitors will be utilizing cashless pay, but we wanted to offer a convenient, time-saving and money-saving option for our fans to avoid ATM lines and fees.

What is 'cashless pay'? How does it work at NYCC?

When you arrive at NYCC, you can pick up your RFID wristband at the Cashless Pay Desk at Will Call. This RFID wristband needs to remain on your wrist for duration of NYCC. Treat this RFID wristband as you would cash or your NYCC badge – it's your precious!

Once inside NYCC, you will be able to load funds onto your RFID wristband using a credit or debit card. Look out for one of our top-up stations or top-up staff who can help you do this! You can also easily set up a cashless pay account and add money for the first time on your phone, however, please note that cashless pay accounts are only available to those who are 18 years of age and up.

Once you have loaded funds onto your RFID wristband you can visit any of the participating exhibitors onsite. Let them know what you would like to purchase and they will scan your RFID wristband in order to deduct the correct amount -- then it's time to enjoy your purchase!

You will use the same RFID wristband for all the days you're attending NYCC.

Is there a cost to me?

In order to make use of the awesome benefits that cashless provides, a one-time RFID wristband activation fee of $3 and a 1% Top-Up Charge. For example, if you add $100 to your RFID wristband at activation, you'll have $97.00 left to spend. Each time you add funds to your RFID wristband with a credit or debit card thereafter, there will be a 1% Top-Up Charge.

How much should I load onto my RFID wristband?

We would recommend loading a minimum of $50.00 to your RFID wristband at initial top-up in order to maximize your experience at NYCC. Since this is the first time NYCC is offering cashless pay, not all exhibitors will be participating so don't load all of your NYCC spending $$ on there!

How do I know how much I have left on my RFID wristband?

You can simply ask any participating vendor or top-up staff member to scan your RFID wristband to see how much credit you have remaining. After each transaction, the vendor can also show you the balance you have remaining.

I've lost my RFID wristband, what can I do?

Please email support@gettoken.com immediately or visit the Cashless Pay Desk at Will Call so that we can put a block on your RFID wristband. You can also log into your cashless pay account if you've already created one and pause the RFID wristband.

What if I don't spend everything on my RFID wristband? Can I get a refund on what's left over?

Yes, you can! Any unspent money will be automatically refunded to the debit or credit card you used to top up your RFID wristband. The money will go back into your bank account within 14 business days.

Can I claim back unspent money DURING NYCC?

No, the refund process is automatic and will happen after NYCC is over within 14 business days. There is no way to reclaim the unspent money during NYCC.

What security is in place on the website to protect my credit/debit card info?

Token does not store credit card details on any of our systems. Instead we use a method called card Tokenisation. This means that your credit card data is processed securely by our credit card payment provider ensuring that your card data remains secure at all times.

For information such as your personal details, all information is encrypted at rest and we adhere to security policies as stipulated by the PCI Security Standards Council and NIST.

You can read more about our security here.
