Pre-Show Lottery FAQs

Here at NYCC, we give fans the opportunity to enter a pre-show lottery for a few of the most popular things to do at NYCC! Check out the FAQ below for more information on how to win and remember, you MUST be Fan Verified to participate. As soon as you receive your badge in the mail or pick it up onsite at Will Call, you must activate your badge to your Fan Verified email.

Two Important Things To Remember:

  • No worries if you haven't received your badge in the mail yet or if you need to pick it up at Will Call. You can still enter the lottery, but make sure you're Fan Verified and that you to activate your badge to your Fan Verified email as soon as you get it (whether in the mail or at Will Call onsite).
  • DO NOT RUSH THROUGH ENTERING THE LOTTERY. Entering early will not increase your chances of winning. Take your time and make sure that you're entering everything correctly. Once you submit your lottery entries, you cannot edit them.

What can I enter for a chance to win?

The three things you can enter for a chance to win are:

  • A seat in a panel taking place on the Main Stage, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center
  • A spot in limited autographing sessions with the casts from some of your favorite movies and TV shows
  • A chance to purchase some super limited exhibitor exclusives

Does this really make my experience better?

These lotteries will help you plan your show and not waste time in long lines – because no one wants to go to #LineCon, amirite? The coolest thing is that if you win, your badge will be pre-loaded with the your lotteries you won and you'll simply tap your badge to redeem your spot at the time of the event.

When and where can I enter the lottery?

We have a special perk for our legacy fans, aka fans who have previously attended NYCC and have been Fan Verified before 2019. If that's you, you'll have first access to the lottery and are eligible to enter from Monday, September 16 to Friday, September 20 at 5:00 PM ET. You will receive your exclusive link via email on Monday, September 16.

All other fans are eligible to enter from Monday, September 23 to Friday, September 27 at 5:00 PM ET.

For any legacy fans who forget to enter early, you can also enter from September 23 to September 27.

Do I need to be Fan Verified?

Yes, in order to ensure that only NYCC fans are entering the pre-show lottery, only fans with Fan Verified email addresses will be able to enter. Our system is super smart too, so you can only enter lotteries for a day you have a valid NYCC badge.

Does my NYCC Badge need to be activated in order to participate ?

You do not need to activate your badge to enter the lottery, but you DO need to activate your badge to participate in the lottery onsite. If you win, we'll be tying your winning lotteries to your badge and you'll tap your badge at the panel, exhibitor booth, or private autographing session to be let in. That's why it's super important for you to activate your badge once you receive it (whether in the mail or at Will Call). Once it's activated to your Fan Verification account, your winning lotteries will sync automatically. Make sure to activate your badge now if you have your badge and haven't yet.

Can I enter for my friends who are Fan Verified or do I have to be a lone wolf for all the fun at NYCC?

Sort of, you can enter the lottery for you and your friends for panels only. We'll go into a bit more detail into the process in our next question.

OK – so how exactly does the lottery work?

After entering your Fan Verified email, you'll be asked to prioritize the events you want to win. We've separated the lottery into two unique categories, in order to increase your chances of winning. Once you've selected the events you want to enter, you'll then be asked to enter your friends' Fan Verified email address for them to attend the panel with you (if you win).

Fans can enter for a chance to win up to (5) Panels & Private Autographing Sessions and (2) Exhibitor Exclusives, per day. If you win, you'll receive:

  • Up to four spots for the panel
  • One spot for the limited autographing session
  • One spot for the exhibitor exclusive

After you’ve made your selections and added your friends' Fan Verified email addresses, you'll submit your selections and you will be entered into the lottery.

When do I find out if I'm a winner?

Fans who enter during the early entry period will be notified on Monday, September 23. All other fans will be notified by Monday, September 30.

Will I be notified if I don’t win the lottery?

Yes, you will be notified if you are not a winner.

What happens if I'm selected as a winner?

You will be notified via email that you’re a winner and your selections will be tied to yours and your friends’ badges. Once your badges are activated, those winnings will be tied to each badge. Log into the NYCC app by tapping on the Lotteries menu option and signing in with your Fan Ver email where prompted. Your winnings will show there, and if you don’t see an event that you had submitted for, that means you did not win.

When should I arrive to each event?

For limited signings and exhibitor exclusives, please arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

For panels in the Main Stage, please arrive to the 1C Queue Hall 35 minutes prior to the panel start time to gain entry.

For panels at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center, please arrive 35 minutes prior to the panel start time to gain entry. When you arrive, look for the “Reserved Seating” line and you will have access to a specific section of the theater.

Please note, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center are not cleared between panels but the reserved seating section will be cleared between panels. If you would like to stay for multiple panels and seats are still available, you can move to a general admission seats. If no general admission seats are available after the panel you won a seat for, you will be asked to vacate the theater. General admission seating is not guaranteed.

Remember to arrive on time – if you arrive after the scheduled start time, we can't guarantee your spot will still be available.

What happens if I'm not selected as a winner?

If you are not selected as a winner for autographing session, we're unfortunately unable to include you in those events.

For exhibitor exclusives, some exhibitors opted into having a virtual standby line where you can tap your activated badge and we'll send you a text message if there's availability and it's your turn to come back to the booth.

We are only reserving 50% of the seats in the Main Stage, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center via the pre-show lottery, so if you are not selected as a winner, there's still a chance to see a panel taking place on one of these stages!

For details on the Main Stage seating process, please review the Main Stage Clearing and Badge Tapping page for more information on how to reserve a seat.

General admission seating at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center is first-come, first-served. If you did not win the lottery you can head straight there in the morning or throughout the day. Keep an eye on @NYCCLines on Twitter and opt into our push notifications so that you can see if panels or full or if there's still availability.

Are all the seats in the Main Stage, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center going to be filled via the pre-show lottery?

Nah – as we mentioned, only 50% of the seats in the Main Stage, Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center will be filled via the pre-show lottery.
